First, a thin layer of the cornea tissue called the "flap" is made. Once this thin layer of tissue (the "flap") has been fashioned, the Excimer Laser then reshapes the internal cornea for the desired optical effect for clear vision. Advantages include:

The initial step of making the flap was formerly done with a blade. Now, increased safety is provided with Bladeless LASIK- there is little or no risk of flap irregularities. The new laser flapmakers now allow the surgeon to design the flap more precisely and specifically for your eye and visual needs.
Once the flap is made, the Excimer Laser then shapes the inner cornea tissue with great precision by disrupting tissue molecular bonds with high energy light pulses only lasting billionths of seconds.
LADARVision is an Excimer Laser system designed to give each patient the best possible result. This laser is distinctively different from other lasers in that it has variable treatment zones for helping with LASIK night vision, has small spot scanning for smoother treatments, and has pinpoint accuracy of laser application with NASA tracking technology.
Even better potential results now exist with Wavefront Technology. Wavefront diagnostic technology can actually guide the Excimer laser to reshape your cornea and address the higher order aberrations, or imperfections, of your eyes. The imperfections are captured and measured with the LADARWave Wavefront System and used to guide the LADARVision Laser to better reshape your eye.
